Beauty in the eye of the beholder

Have you ever given thought to the descriptions authors use to illustrate their characters?  While reading them, I often think to myself, how would someone else reading this illustrate this character in their mind?  Would another person's head picture be the same as mine?  It would probably be different every time.  I think most of time it doesn't matter what features the author gives his/her characters, it's how they tell us that determines how we feel about the character's beauty.  That's art.
